Lab Grown Diamonds are real diamonds. Despite being grown in reactors in labs, these diamonds possess the same physical, optical and chemical characteristics as natural diamonds. Any diamond is a diamond not because it is mined from the earth but because of its chemical composition. Both Lab Grown Diamonds and natural diamonds possess the same crystalline structure of carbon atoms. Hence Lab Grown Diamonds are real diamonds.

It starts with a thin slice of diamond, called a seed. The seed is placed inside a sealed chamber filled with carbon rich gas and heated to very high temperatures. Carbon atoms from the gas separate and gradually attach to the seed, building up layer by layer until a rough diamond forms around it. This process typically takes four to six weeks, depending on the size of the diamond. Once the rough diamond has grown, it is cut and polished by skilled craftspeople, using the same techniques applied to mined diamonds.

A standard diamond tester recognises a lab-grown diamond as a real diamond because it has the same physical and chemical properties as a mined diamond. It will test positive as a diamond.

No. A lab-grown diamond has the same hardness, durability and chemical stability as a mined diamond. It will not cloud, oxidise or lose its colour through normal wear. If a diamond appears dull, it is almost always due to a build up of everyday residue such as hand cream, soap and natural skin oils on its surface. This can be removed with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft brush. We'll also clean your diamond free of charge at any of our stores for as long as you own it.

Lab created diamonds are graded the same way as mined diamonds. They are certified by all the leading gemological labs such as IGI, GIA, SGL, EGL. All the Lab Grown Diamonds used by Jewelbox are graded and certified by renowned third party organisations. All our gold is BIS hallmarked and carries a HUID stamp.

Yes. Lab Grown Diamonds are generally priced 60–90% lower than comparable natural diamonds of the same quality. Like natural diamonds, their value is based on the 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. You can see the price of every piece on its page. Nothing is on request.

Most certified lab-grown diamonds have a microscopic laser inscription on the girdle, the thin outer edge of the diamond. The inscription typically includes the certificate number and identifies the diamond as laboratory grown. It is invisible to the naked eye and can be viewed with a jeweller's loupe or microscope. The inscription matches the grading certificate that accompanies your diamond, and it's also mentioned in the certificate that the diamond is lab grown.

Yes, in two places. We can also inscribe a word or a short phrase onto the girdle of the diamond itself, where it sits invisibly until someone looks through a loupe. It is the quietest way we know to put something into a piece of jewellery. Ask for it in store, or select it on the product page.

All our gold jewellery is BIS hallmarked with a unique HUID stamp, ensuring authenticity, purity and traceability. The BIS hallmark and HUID are stamped on each piece and the gold purity (karatage) is clearly specified on every product page.

Diamonds are the hardest naturally occurring material, making them highly suitable for everyday wear when set securely. However, like all fine jewellery, they should still be worn with reasonable care to protect the setting and metal. Some of our heavier statement pieces and delicate designs are created for specific occasions or special purposes rather than continuous daily wear. Where applicable, we clearly mention on the product page if a piece is best suited for occasional wear and provide care recommendations to help you enjoy it for years to come.

Walkins are always welcome, although we recommend booking an appointment for engagement rings or bridal consultations so that one of our specialists can provide dedicated assistance. To be eligible for a return, the piece must be unworn and returned with its original certificate and packaging. Simply get in touch with us, and we'll arrange a return pickup. Once we receive your jewellery and it successfully completes our quality check, we'll process your refund within 7–10 business days.
